Think back to when you were in school. If you’re like me, you may remember lunch as a pretty boring affair. Sandwich, apple, drink, and the occasional granola bar. Why not liven up lunchtime for your kids by ‘seeing beyond the sandwich’. When packing lunches try to include foods with a variety of colours to help your child get a variety of nutrients. Red peppers, green grapes, and blueberries make for great snacks with minimal preparation. Don’t forget the complex carbohydrates, such as whole wheat pasta or bread made with whole grains.
A healthy body and a full belly will help your child focus on what’s happening in school, instead of what’s happening in their stomach. And besides, eating a rainbow is also a lot more fun!
